Ruchi Agarwal
Success Story
Ruchi Agarwal is a 46-year-old financial advisor from India, who enjoys traveling, shopping, and participating in various social organizations. Recently, she began experiencing a loss of speech, extreme fatigue, and cognitive decline. After initial treatment for myelin oligodendrocyte (MOGAD), she chose to receive inpatient rehabilitation at Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital (BRRH) because it was located close to her daughter, a student at Indiana University.
Upon admission, Ruchi’s goal was clear: to be mobile enough to travel overseas once again. She worked closely with the hospital’s interdisciplinary healthcare team, who developed a customized treatment plan that included physical therapy to improve mobility, occupational therapy to regain daily living skills, and speech therapy to support her cognitive and speech recovery.
At the end of her 16 days at BRRH, Ruchi was able to eat an oral diet, walk community distances with improved balance, and complete her self-care with only occasional assistance. She flew back to India immediately following her discharge.
“My treatment was 100% above my expectations,” Ruchi says. “Special thanks to speech therapist, Chris; occupational therapist, Kim; physical therapist, Cindy; and all the staff and doctors. And most of all, to Amber, clinical liaison. Without her, recovery wouldn’t have been possible.”
