Helen Krout
Success Story
A trained welder, Helen Krout made airplane parts for 22 years. At eighty-eight years old, she lives independently and enjoys caring for her many grandchildren, who live near her home in Veedersburg, Indiana.
In May, Helen experienced weakness and some facial drooping. She had no idea that she had suffered a stroke until her family took her to the hospital. Released from the hospital a week later, she chose Bloomington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital (BRRH) to begin her inpatient rehabilitation. “My daughter-in-law knew about the hospital and how it ranks in the top 10% of the nation for inpatient rehabilitation facilities nationwide,” Helen says.
Not wanting to single out one person who contributed to her recovery, Helen says the entire staff has been wonderful. “They have been encouraging and listen when I am experiencing pain,” she says. “And the cafeteria food at BRRH definitely contributed to my recovery; I loved it! Everything motivated me to want to get better.”
Helen recently returned home and is ready to resume her everyday routine. She looks forward to spending time with her church family, friends, children, and grandchildren.
